The proposal to erect a windfarm with up to nine wind turbines on the hills behind Dunoon will have an impact on every resident of Dunoon and the surrounding areas. Dunoon Community Council would like to know what you think. We are elected to represent the residents of Dunoon and will ensure that the results of this survey are communicated to Argyll and Bute Council, The Scottish Government and StatKraft.
Representatives of a number of Cowal Community Councils and Gourock Community Council met recently to discuss the town centre to town centre ferry route.
In order to gauge local opinion they have prepared a very short survey that simply asks if residents would like to have a better service than the current one. Dunoon Community Council are kindly hosting the survey.
Please fill this in and the group will use the results to decide the way forward.
Recently Argyll & Bute Council secured funding for the refurbishment of the West Bay Play Park. During the consultation process, it was identified that the preference was for inclusivity and play equipment that could be used by all children. £40000 has been allocated for the entire refurbishment process. Repairs to the surface of the Play Park which includes replacement of some of the hard and soft surfaces could cost approximately £10K. To keep costs down, the repainting of the railings and gates will be done by local volunteers.
It has been 18 months since Dunoon Community Council were elected. The core function of Dunoon Community Council is to act as a medium between the residents of Dunoon and Argyll and Bute Council and other statutory bodies. We have no legal powers and unlike other local groups, we receive absolutely no funding for community projects. We are elected to represent the residents of Dunoon and therefore it is important that we are correctly focused. With our AGM coming up in May, it is vital that we know what the public want. Please complete our short survey. When leaving feedback, it is important that you justify your statements, If you say we are bad, That's great, but please tell us why we are bad so we can fix the problem. We really appreciate you taking the time to help.

In years gone by Dunoon used to be a thriving holiday destination for those living in the inner cities. sadly those days are long gone, however Dunoon is still going strong and still attracts tourists from all over the world.
Gourock and Wemyss Bay have both got a "Wee" statue to commemorate days gone by when the Clyde was the destination of choice for people to take their annual holiday. The thought is that we could continue the them here in Dunoon and have a statue commissioned to commemorate our heyday.
Ceilidh Band Canned Haggis came up with the idea of something to commemorate Dunoon's links to the Cowal Highland Gathering or the World Highland Dancing Championships, so Dunoon Community Council would like to hear your idea's/. We thought we could have a young piper to commemorate the Cowal Highland Gathering or as we still host the World Highland Dancing Championships we could have a young highland dancer. The cost for this project is expected to be around £40k and would therefore need the community to come together to raise fund. The first stage of the process is to gauge public support. Please let us know what you think and complete our survey.
Survey has now closed. Please click on the link to see the results.
